Entry Procedure Reminder for UK visitors

If it’s your first time visiting the U.S., or it’s been a while since your last trip, don’t forget the steps you need to take to enter the country. Making sure you’re up-to-date with the current requirements for non-U.S. citizens from the UK travelling to the United States will avoid any pre-flight panics.

UK visitors must apply online for ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/). ESTA was introduced in 2009 and is obligatory for travelers under the ‘visa waiver’ program. As of 2010, you need to pay a fee using a credit card when applying for the ESTA.

PICC 2010 Total Revenue Up 37%

The People’s Insurance Company (Group) of China Limited (PICC), a top integrated insurer in the country, raked in CNY 264.7 billion total revenue in 2010, expanding by 37 percent year on year; its total premium income came to CNY 246.4 billion and entire profit hit a record high last year.

PICC Property and Casualty Company saw premiun revenue reach more than CNY 150 billion and the premium income from Auto Insurance exceed CNY 100 billion in 2010. Its branches in Jiangsu, Guangdong and Hebei became the first province-level non-life insurance businesses made over CNY 10 billion premium income nationwide last year.

China Taiping Insurance Group 2010 Premium Income Up 40%

China Taiping Insurance Group Co. brought in more than CNY 43.8 billion premium revenue from public and non-public vehicles in 2010, leaping by 40 percent year on year, chairman Lin Fan disclosed in a January 23 interview. The group grew total assets and net assets to CNY 136.8 billion and CNY 16.8 billion as of last year-end, and the two figures went up by 31 percent and 15 percent over a year earlier respectively; the group saw aggregate assets stand at CNY 138.5 billion. China Taiping Insurance Holdings Company Limited (SEHK: 0966), a listed unit of the insurance group, recorded HKD 603 million net profit in the first half of 2010, up 9.6 percent from HKD 550 million in the period of a year ago, according to its interim results.
