China Direct Investment to ASEAN Exceeds USD10bn

The ASEAN has become a major destination for the nation’s investment and also one of the best choices for Chinese companies to go global. In 2010, the nation’s direct investment to the ASEAN reached USD 2.57 billion, compared to USD 230 million in 2003 and USD 3 billion in 2009. While the ASEAN’s direct investment to China hit USD 6.32 billion last year, representing a yearly rise of 35.2 percent. Hurt by the global financial crisis, the ASEAN’s export to the US, the European Union (UN), and Japan dropped in succession. While, its export to China surged thanks to the free trade zone.
2011 is the twentieth anniversary for China and the ASEAN to enter into a dialogue relationship and through an expo, China expects to launch more in-depth cooperation with the ASEAN in the future.
